Now that we’re well in to December, it’s definitely OK to talk about Christmas!

We’ve had a sparkly makeover at INICIO; we are now feeling and looking festive! Although we can’t have our infamous tree up this year, we have still managed to decorate and make everyone feel Christmassy in their sessions.

The Christmas holidays are a time to relax and spend some time with family and friends, however, it’s important for students to not switch off completely for the full 2 weeks that they are off school. This year especially, it’s so important to keep on top of your work (even if it’s just a little bit!), as there was so much time missed before the summer. Our sessions are running as usual up to and including the 23rd of December and then we will also be having a well-deserved break from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day! Fear not though, we will be back to it on Saturday the 2nd of January for those students preparing for entrance exams and mocks in January.

As many students will have some sort of assessment or exam when they return to school after Christmas, the holidays are a really important time to revise and go back over what you learnt in the first term of the academic year. Be sure that your notes are all written and well organised and, if there are specific topics that you need to revisit, we can help you to feel fully confident with them before you take your exams, so just let us know.

If you have a child at primary school, try to do a little reading with them every day; this is such a great way for them to improve their imagination, vocabulary and writing skills and it will really pay off when they go back to school. Why not try to find some festive books that can be used too?

Although we emphasise the importance of doing some revision or form of learning over the holidays, don’t forget to unwind, relax and eat some delicious, festive food… we certainly will :)
