Greece is such a beautiful country with a fascinating culture and history and, if you’re up for a challenge, it’s definitely worth learning the language :)

If you’re thinking of going on holiday to Greece, wouldn’t it be great to be able to converse with the locals a little in their own language? Although a lot of Greeks speak English, they are so grateful when someone tries to communicate in their mother tongue; it can take you from being a tourist to a guest and they will certainly make you feel right at home!

Although it may look like a scary language to learn, did you know that around 25% of English vocabulary originates from Greek? If you work in the medical industry, astronomy, maths or philosophy, you will most likely be using Greek on a daily basis without even knowing!

A lot of people can be put off from learning a language that has a different alphabet, but it can also be very rewarding once you’ve mastered it! Whether you would like to learn Greek because you love to travel to the country (which is understandable with such delicious food!), you have Greek family members or you think it would be helpful with future studies linked to the language, our native speakers can help you to master the difficult aspects of it, including the pronunciation.

Whilst learning the language, our specialist tutors can also tailor your sessions to teach you about the history and culture of Greece, if you are interested in the country as a whole.

There are so many reasons to learn a language and, although Greek isn’t offered at many schools, it can present a great but rewarding challenge to those who wish to take it.
