From our Founder

inicio-choices-200920-1028.jpg

“My early experiences as a tutor helped us to realise that traditional tutoring wasn’t ideal for inspiring confident learning.

So we created INICIO to make learning fun, positive and interesting. Instead of tutoring at a kitchen table, we bring students together in our own homely learning environments.

Our approach is unique because your child feels relaxed alongside other students but is guaranteed one-to-one attention from their personal tutor.

Our tutors are talented, vibrant and engaging. We believe we get amazing results because our tutors connect with students on a personal level and give them the opportunity to learn independently.”

Charlotte will guide you and hold your hand right from your first contact with us; your INICIO journey is an important part of your family life and, for many of you, we will play a part over many years and for sibling after sibling, subject after subject. Throughout all of this, knowing that Charlotte understands your child, their goals, their availability, their level, their weaknesses, their rate of progress and everything in between means that you can feel secure and safe in her hands and know that she will schedule, communicate and liaise with tutors to make this aspect of your crazy life as smooth sailing and enjoyable as possible! She also teaches maths, English and French for us :)

Interesting fact: I was a keen hockey player at University, playing for one of the University teams. I also went to school in New Zealand for a term when I was in year 9.

Summed up in three words: Kind, friendly, approachable.

Interests/hobbies: I love visiting my family and friends in the Lake District and, when it’s not raining (which is rare!), going for walks up there. I also love food - particularly cake - and travelling to new places.

Why do you love INICIO? INICIO is a wonderful place to work and learn! The environment is perfect for students to come and study; it is unique, calming and welcoming, which helps make the students feel comfortable. Everything that INICIO stands for is something I believe in and we always strive to help students improve and build on their confidence - whether it's a small change or something big like jumping up a few grades. It's so lovely to hear when a student gets rewarded or recognised at school for the work they have been putting in outside of school; seeing how pleased the students are makes us feel very proud :)

Why do you love teaching these subjects? I love seeing students grow in confidence and helping them to reach their goals. It’s so rewarding seeing their language skills flourish and a love of literature develop. Why do you love teaching this subject? I love helping students to achieve their dreams, or at least being a part of this adventure. One of my biggest interests is learning new languages, so I really enjoy supporting students with French and Arabic by giving them the confidence that they need to excel. Summed up in three words: Honest, disciplined, optimistic.
Interests/hobbies: Military history, reading, shooting, fitness, debating and writing!

The three topics that students find difficult in your subject: The relationship between legislative, judiciary and executive of the UK; international relations - how and why nations interact the way they do; understanding how Prime Ministers, parties and external powers interact.

Why do you love teaching this subject? I love to keep up-to-date with current affairs and learning politics and international relations helps me to understand the fundamentals of many events. I believe that understanding the basic workings of politics helps us to make sense of many domestic and international affairs. I love working at INICIO as it allows me to tailor my teaching directly to the students' needs, which I believe they find more refreshing; this definitely helps to bolster students' confidence before those big exams!
