I am sitting on the top floor of our unique, private tuition centre in the heart of Market Harborough with our 'Dyson AM08 Pedestal Air Multiplier Fan' on max and I am still sizzling. I can't help but to try to remember the last time I was this hot in the UK and, other than the sauna at Rushton Hall, I have come up blank. After a few seconds of research, the net official has confirmed it, it has never been this hot in my entire lifetime!
Having grown up with the warning of climate change and global warming, I am finally experiencing its affects in my day-to-day life. After reading more news articles, and carefully avoiding the fake news, it is clear that the UK isn't even having it that bad! In Australia tyres are melting, in India this heatwave has been the fifth deadliest in history! Even though no single record, in isolation, can be attributed to global warming, collectively the current heat records are consistent with the kind of extremes expected from a warming world.
It is times like this when I am jealous of those studying geography, because they are able to understand and analyse all of this information. For instance they are able to connect one article about a river disappearing, and then another about an extra 200,000,000 litres of water being used a day in the UK Moreover, they are the ones who are able to collect the information and write the articles that I am reading and so I believe that studying geography is going to become more and more important in the foreseeable future.
