Metacognition is defined simply as the the awareness and understanding of one’s thought process. The concept of metacognition has recently become extremely popular within education, and schools are encouraging their pupils to learn this skill to help them to improve their exam results, become self-directed learners and critical thinkers.
By being encouraged to make assessments of their learning, pupils are being encouraged to think about what they did well and not so well so that they can make necessary changes for next time. Read on for more information!
