Now that we are well and truly into the summer holidays, it’s really important to think about your children’s learning and how their time at home can help to keep them on track for their next school year.
It can be a huge step up from year 6 up to year 7, especially this year with students not having been at school since March; take a look at how we can help to get them prepared!
Establishing a love of books and reading from an early age is extremely important in a child’s development in terms of their cognitive function and their emotional and social development. We have explored the benefits of reading and developing an enjoyment out of reading can have on children and have put together a few ideas on how you could make story time more fun!
Keeping up with reading during the summer holidays can be tricky, with many parents, carers and tutors noticing a ‘dip’ in their children’s reading ability while they’re away from school. That’s why every year, Libraries all across Leicestershire and the UK get set for The Summer Reading Challenge, an initiative that helps three quarters of a million children regain that confidence, from ages 4-11 years.
