Learn to speak Italian at Inicio

Nobody chooses to study Italian for its role in world affairs or its number of speakers around the world. This is a cultural language spoken mainly in Italy and by bilingual speakers. Learners are attracted to Italian for its close links to Latin, to help with other studies (for example history and art) and various other (perhaps personal) reasons.

Italy is one of the most sought-after destinations for people travelling around the world; whether it's the beautiful architecture, the fascinating history and culture or the delicious food that attracts you to the country, learning the language so that you know some words and phrases when you're there can make all the difference.

Did you know that Italian is one of the Romance languages, which means that it derived from Vulgar Latin between the 3rd and 8th centuries. Italian is one of the closest to the original Latin language and it actually contains five fewer letters than the English alphabet (j, k, w, x and y). If you were to see any of these letters in an Italian text or sentence, it isn't an original Italian word but has been borrowed from another language.

INICIO's Italian tutors treat each learner as an individual and come up with a bespoke learning pathway, made up of the necessary vocabulary, pronunciation tips and grammar explanations you’ll need to succeed in Italian. One-to-one tutoring online or at our studio makes it easy to tailor lessons to your individual needs as a student and your specific goals for language learning.

As with the other languages that we teach at INICIO, we can help complete beginners, intermediate learners, advanced speakers and those striving for fluency - whatever your goal, we can help you to achieve it :)
